Wondering how or why the day became a holiday?

Well, May 29th has been the Democracy Day in Nigeria since 1999, when the military handed over power to a democratically elected government.

On June 6th, 2018, President Muhammadu Buhari declared June 12 to be the new Democracy Day.

The move was to commemorate the democratic election of MKO Abiola as president on June 12th, 1993 which was, however, annulled by the Ibrahim Babangida-led military government.

It takes you to make the Nigeria that you seek
