Honorable Marie visits CERDOTOLA Executive Secretary, discuss partnership

Saturday- 10th July, 2021: Honorable Marie Louise Abomo, member of the African Commission on Human Rights and Peoples, (ACHPR), and president of the Working Group on the Rights of the Elderly and Disabled Persons, on Tuesday 6th July, 2021 visited Prof. Charles Binam Bikoi, The Executive Secretary of Centre for Research and Documentation on African Traditions and Languages (CERDOTOLA).

The visit was at the Institution’s Headquarters in Yaoundé, Cameroon aimed at ways in which CERDOTOLA, a Pan-African Institution can partner with ACHPR.

The CERDOTOLA Executive Secretary, Prof. Charles, welcomed the president in her capacity as chair of the Working Group on the Rights of Older Persons and Persons with Disabilities.

He assured her that the institution will offer maximum cooperation, with a view to exploring avenues of collaboration with the Pan-African Institution, with regard to taking into account of indigenous knowledge in the work of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights in general and to preserve the Rights of the Elderly and the Disabled, in particular.

He reassured that with regard to the vision and action plan of the Institution contained in its Scientific Framework Program, several founding axes could guide collaboration with CERDOTOLA with a view to carrying out her missions toward the Working Group.

Founded in November 2, 1987, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the Secretariat of the Commission was established in Banjul, The Gambia, the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR) is a quasi-judicial body tasked with promoting and protecting human rights and collective (peoples') rights throughout the African continent as well as interpreting the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights and considering individual complaints of violations of the Charter.
