UNN Alumni Association to hold 106th National Executive Council/Delegates meeting in Ibadan

The University of Nigeria Alumni Association has concluded plans to hold her 106th National Executive Council/Delegates conference in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The meeting is scheduled to hold on the 21st of August, 2021, Time: 9am, at the Dominican University Ibadan, Samonda Campus, Oyo State.

The theme of the conference is ‘University and Nigeria: A Critical Survey.’

The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde is the Chief Host and will be among the prominent dignitaries at the 106th National Executive Council/Delegates Conference. The Executive Governor is expected to declare open the conference.

It is also worthy of note that the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan is an alumnus of University of Nigeria and will be hosting the event alongisde the Executive Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde.

Recall that the last NEC meeting held in Ibadan was in 2012, under the administration of Governor Lam Adesina. Late governor Lam Adesina hosted the National Delegates at the Government House and the NEC meeting that year was well attended and a huge success under the leadership of the then president of Ibadan Branch , Chief Mrs. Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu, who is now the FIrst lady of Ondo state. It's more or less a tradition for the Governor of the hosting state to host the Delegates.

His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde, (Ooni of Ife) who is the Chancellor of the University is the Distinguished Guest of Honor . Chief Micheal Andrew Olorunfemi, the Chairman of the Governing Council; Prof Charles A Igwe, Vice Chancellor and Sir Ben Okoronkwo, the National President, are all going to grace the occasion and many other dignitaries from all walks of life will be at the conference.

The National President of the Association, Sir Ben Okoronkwo in an interview with CEOAFRICA stated that the Association’s Delegates Conference is a platform to actively engage in intellectual and critical discourse on the challenges facing Nigeria University Education.

Speaking further, he commended the efforts of President of Ibadan Branch Magaji Alh Salahudeen Q Adeniyi and the Local Organizing committee headed by Rev. Fr. Francis Chiadi O.P, the executives and members for their time, energy and resources spent towards ensuring that the upcoming event is a memorable one

 

The chairman of the Local organizing committee, Rev. Fr. Francis Chiadi O.P., stated that the association has come to a decision to invite leading experts in their fields to lead the discourse on the theme. He further stated that the impact of the discourse will be beneficial to the delegates and to Nigeria in general.

He added that in recognition of their meritorious service, some Nigerians will be honoured and given special recognition awards.

The Association’s Delegates Conference is always a major event where people from all walks of life are invited.

This 106th National Delegates Conference of University of Nigeria Alumni Association promises to be engaging, memorable and impactful on Nigeria's University system.
