The African Academy of Languages (ACALAN-AU) has launched and unveiled the African Languages Week logo in Quagadougou, Burkina Faso on 29th and 30th of July 2021, in collaboration with the government of Burkina Faso.
The unveiling of the Logo of the African Languages Week which was designed by CEOAFRICA the leading online media organization in Africa was done by H.E. Stanislas OUARO, Minister of Education, Literacy and the Promotion of African Languages of Burkina Faso and H.E. Amira Elfadil, Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development of the African Union Commission.
The launching of the African Languages Week was in line with its adoption by the Third Specialised Technical Committee on Youth, Culture and Sport of the African Union, held from October 21 to 25, 2018 in Algiers, Algeria.
The African Languges Week was Initiated by the Executive Secretary of the African Academy of Languages (ACALAN), Dr. Lang Fafa Dampha . It is a major event that should be observed annually from 24 to 30 January by all member states of the African Union, as a special moment of the African identity

ACALAN is a specialized institution of the African Union mandated to develop and promote African languages, and to provide technical support to Member States for the formulation and implementation of language policies and strategies of language development and use.
