CEOAFRICA.com gathered from Lagos that the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has warned its members not to comply with the directive issued by Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) that members should proceed on an indefinite strike.

Sources said the NMA directed all medical doctors to remain at their duty post and carry out their obligation, especially for emergency cases at public hospitals.

The body also promised not to tolerate any act that will obstruct the effective discharge of duties by medical and dental practitioners.

While addressing the issue, the national president of Nigerian Medical Association, Osahon Enabulele said the plans to embark on indefinite strike are being promoted by some hospital support staff to prevent doctors from providing healthcare services in public hospitals in the country.

He made it clear that doctors should always remain committed to their responsibility of offering quality healthcare services to the people.
