IG Mohammed Abubakar in the circular address warn the officers and men of the force, urged that they should make all effort to avoid excessive use of force and unjustifiable application of fatal weapons, stressing that whoever violate the rules of use of weapons would be punished.

He further urged the officers to be mindful of the constitutional rights of the citizenry, while performing their statutory duties.

He also restated his commitment to reforming and returning the police to the path of professionalism in line with international best practices and the transformation agenda of the Federal Government, expressing the resolution to rid the force of all forms of corruption.

He called on the X-Squad, an internal Police Department that monitors enforcement of discipline within the force, to step up its monitoring of the personnel to stem corrupt practices in the force, enjoining them to abide by the Code of Conduct and Professional Standards for members of the force.

He, however, commended the public for their understanding, cooperation and support for the Force in the face of the current security challenges, and as well solicited their continuous collaboration in efforts to expose societal ills, even among the force members.
