Nyanya Blast Victim Dies 5 Months After

Five months after the Nyanya bomb blast which occurred on May 1, 2014, one of the two victims, Mr. Chiamaka Dominic has finally lost the battle to save his life.
Nigerian Pilot gathered that Dominic died barely two weeks after a surgery sponsored by First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan’s Women for Change Development Initiative, had been carried out on one of his legs.
The surgery was said to have cost N1.4million and was equally given additional money by First Lady’s NGO.
Dominic, a driver from Ehime-Mbano local government area in Imo State, died last Sunday night at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, UATH Gwagwalada, where he had been receiving treatment.
He left behind a pregnant wife (Ijeoma) and two children aged between 3 and 5.
Spokesperson of UATH, Mr. Frank Omagbon, confirmed Dominic’s death.
One of the deceased friends and relative, Felix Okwudiri, also confirmed the death.
Deceased Dominic was first admitted at the Accident and Emergency Department of Wuse General Hospital, Abuja, but was transferred to UATH with another victim, Mrs. Monica Solomon, due to severe burns and injuries.
It was also gathered that when the victims were in Wuse General Hospital, the Minister of FCT, Bala Mohammed promised that the government would take good care of the two victims while the minister’s wife was said to have also provided a bag of rice.
