Redcare HMO Urges Nigerians To Invest In Health Insurance

In an effort to improve health insurance coverage in Nigeria, Redcare HMO, one of the accredited HMOs by National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), has recently held an open house event at the company's head office in Lagos, where it called on Nigerians to patronise health insurance providers in the country.

The Managing Director, Redcare HMO, Dr Tunde Salako while addressing guests and participants at the event said: “The reason why we are here is to raise awareness by having an open house event in order to showcase our platform in terms of our infrastructure, human capital processes and technology.

“Our primary mission is to fulfil the health care needs of all enrolees at all levels beyond their expectations.
“It is important to let Nigerians understand that when it comes to HMOs practice in Nigeria, there are a lot of brands springing up, but it’s better to go for the better option, an option that you know is credible and we believe with our anchors and pillars we would attain that height of being the best HMO brand in Nigeria.”


He also added that, "We at Redcare HMO have put in tremendous effort and investments and we plan to take the HMO practice in Nigeria to that next level. Currently, we have a lot of products in the pipeline. It may interest you to know that Redcare HMO is into community health insurance and part of what we are looking to do in the future is taking care of vulnerable groups in line with the universal health insurance coverage mandate of the NHIS.

“We are very eager to going out a lot in terms of plans. We have gone into different areas thereby creating bespoke solutions. We are that HMO that gives you satisfactory service gives that specific solution staying lodged in the industry you happen are from. We also have something specific for different industrial sector, from oil and gas to banking to the education sector."
He explained why Redcare is a better health insurance brand in Nigeria, saying “we are one of the few HMOs in Nigeria with the facility to provide primary, secondary and tertiary care, all under one roof. We also have proven record for timely payments to all provider hospitals including 500 hospitals nationwide on our network.

“Equally, we promote wellness as the best way of maintaining a healthy life and our clients also have the benefit to explore or retaining present hospitals and Doctors if they wish. Above all we have a good record for quality and efficient service delivery."
He however lamented the slow pace of taken up health insurance among Nigerians.

“Unfortunately we have not adapted to the culture of health insurance generally. Nigerians are not insuring even for things that ought be insured, but we are gradually gravitating towards that end even though we are still focused on out of pocket payment, but I believe in time this would change and at the end of the day we would meet up with the world standard of health care system in Nigeria,” he said.
