Friday 10th December 2021: The ongoing crisis in the All Progressives Congress, Anambra state chapter may still continue for a long time, as loyalists to Senator Andy Uba and the current deputy governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke as well as that of Dr. Chris Ngige, continue to battle for the control of the affairs of the party.
Anambra APC has been in crisis after the leader, Ngige, allegedly abandoned the party ahead of the recently-concluded governorship election in the state.
The current face-off in the party will take a new turn as reports have shown that both contending groups have fixed meetings of the state caucus of the party for Friday at different locations in Abuja.
However, the number of members that attend either of the two meetings would go a long way in determining where the leadership balance will tilt.
The Uba caucus, through a statement by the former Director, Media and Publicity of the party’s governorship campaign council, Mr Victor Ogene, on Thursday, accused  Ngige of rejecting the processes that presented the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Uba, and thereafter distanced himself from the party’s quest to win the election.
Further claiming that soon after the November 6, 2021 governorship election was concluded, the minister made a dramatic return, with an intent to superintend over the forthcoming state congress, where new executives to run the affairs of the party over the next four years would be chosen.
Ogene, said, “You cannot abandon your troops in war time and seek a return to lead this same beleaguered people in peace time.”
However, the state secretary of the party, Chukwuma Agufugo, in an interview Thursday, denied any faction in the party saying he was not aware of any other meeting except the one by his caucus.
Agufugo said, “It is wrong to say Ngige abandoned the party during the governorship election because he was on the ground and voted at his polling unit.
“I am not aware of any other meeting except the one holding at the residence of Senator Chris Ngige, which every member of the party has indicated interest to attend.
“ As for another separate meeting, I don’t know about that. And the party has no faction, if anybody is saying that the party has faction, it is the creation of the person’s imagination.”
