The Catholic Bishop of Oyo Diocese, Most Rev Dr. Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo has felicitated Muslims faithful across the globe as they commence this year’s Ramadan fast, he enjoined them to seek justice, peace and development for the country.

In his Ramadan message which was made available to CEOAFRICA, His Lordship, bishop Badejo said Christians and Muslims are brothers and sisters as he allude to the fact that Ramadan fast is one of the most important pillars of Islam and it's always a period of sober reflections the same which is generic with the Christian fast which takes place annually.

The Ramadan fast (1442AH) for this year, 2022 which commences on the 1st of April is expected to run till 1st of May.

Coincidentally, Badejo asserts that this year's Ramadan fast just falls in the same period when Christians are observing their own yearly fasting obligation which started a month ago.

For him, as a Clergy man, the Almighty Allah must have orchestrated this in order to pass a message across to the adherents of the two religions.

The Catholic Bishop further said "as Muslims and Christians, who are observing this unique exercise of a fast at the same time, we must not relent in our collective efforts, prayers and personal relationship with God especially in this holy season.

Our fasting and prayer should also make us work together for a better Nigeria that we desire, he added".

Speaking on behalf of the Catholic Church generally, he affirmed that the Church is always willing and ready to work with Muslims all over the world for unity, justice and good relationship.

"Nigeria is our own, our common heritage as Muslims and Christians. This is our country; so we must come together to seek for her unity, political stability, equity, true Governance especially as we prepare for the general Elections, come early next year. We must seek peace, justice and development as a people of diverse religion, culture and ethnical bias.

He gave thanks to God for the protection of lives and for limiting the effects of Covid-19 pandemic in the world and in our beloved country Nigeria .He prays that the Almighty God should grant the entire world peace and Justice.”

The Charismatic Bishop concluded by wishing the Muslims brethren a fruitful and blessed month of Ramadan. "Ramadan Kareem, Ma Salaam" to all Muslims.
