Commercial driver bags 6 months over traffic offences

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) yesterday disclosed that a commercial driver, Mr Rasaq Tesi has been sentence to six months imprisonment by a Mobile Court.

 

The Oyo State FRSC Sector Commander, Godwin Ogagaoghene told Leadership in Ibadan that 68 traffic offenders were apprehended for various traffic offences in continuation of “Operation Shield 111” aimed at reducing road crashes in South West.

 

The FRSC boss who disclosed that the Mobile Court presided over by Senior

Magistrate, Grade 11, Oyo State judiciary, O.O. Ogunkanmi also discharged and

acquitted one driver. He said that the convicted commercial driver with vehicle registration number EJG 119 XA was however given an option of N50, 000 fines.

 

According to him, the traffic offenders were apprehended for various traffic

offences, ranging from Seatbelt Violation, Light Sign Violation, Vehicle Windscreen Violation, Fire Extinguisher Violation, and Overloading Violation.  He explained that 67 out of the 68 traffic offenders were convicted while one Mr Rasaq Tesi with vehicle registration number EJG 119 XA was sentence to six (6) month imprisonment with an option of Fifty Thousand Naira N50, 000 fine.

 

He added that one was discharge and acquitted.He used the opportunity to advise motorists on the need to obey Traffic Rules and Regulations, also to avoid over-speeding on the Highway.
