Banditry: Five killed in Zamfara village

Bandits have reportedly killed five people in the Barkeji village of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

They have also carted away domestic animals and food items.

An indigene of the area, Abdullahi Mohammed, said the victims were killed on Sunday night when the bandits attacked the village.

Mohammed said the bandits arrived in the village last Sunday night on motorcycles where they shot dead five people and injured one.

He said, “They arrived in our village in the night on Sunday and began to shoot sporadically killing five persons on the spot.

“They have also injured one other person who is currently in hospital receiving medical treatment.

“Many people including myself were able to escape into the bush.”

He further explained that the bandits had also carted away many domestic animals and foodstuffs.

“They broke into our houses and shops where they took away large number of animals and food items,” said Mohammed.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, could not be reached for comment as of the time of sending this report.
