A new Commandant, Muhammad Sanyinna, Tuesday, took over the Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

In his inaugural address, Sanyinna vowed to fight crimes in the state to a standstill, assuring full implementation of the Commandant General’s zero tolerance directives against all forms of vandalism of petroleum pipelines, power installations, telecommunications infrastructure and other critical national assets and infrastructure of government.

He charged officers and men of the corps in Abia State to prepare for a season of productive engagements that would activate a period of steady rise in the performance index/rating of the command.

According to him, “Abia Command under my stewardship will reward excellent performance and diligent commitment to duty without compromise to professionalism, while those who indulge in truancy will have no choice than to take dressing as we will maintain an attitude of zero tolerance to indolence.”

He pledged to work with the state government and to synergise with sister security agencies in the state to ensure that the relative peace in the state is sustained.

Security, he said, was everybody’s business and he solicited the support of the general public through providing useful information to security agencies in the state to enable them serve better.

In his speech during a brief handover ceremony at the command headquarters in Umuahia, the outgoing Commandant, Ayinla Olowo, thanked officers and men of the command for their support and loyalty to his administration and urged them to extend maximum cooperation to the new state Commandant to enable him succeed.
