OYO STATE CELBRATES ITS PHASE OF THE OLYMPIC DAY TODAY

The Oyo State Phase of the globally Annual Olympic Day celebration is taking place today, 28th August 2013, at Lekan Salami Sports Stadium, Adamasingba, Sabo, Ibadan.

CEOAFRICA news correspondence realiably gathered that the global event which is annually celebrated in Oyo State is organised by the Oyo State Sports Council.

The sports event which saw the assembly of people of different age bracket at the Lekan Salami Sports stadium has scheduled suitable activities for the ages ranging from 6km run for adults, 4km for young youths and then 1km run for children.

The global event which is organised annually in Nigeria by the National Olympic Committee and Nigeria Sports For All Commission to celebrate the rich ideals of the Olympics is said by the sports experts to be a chance for people of all ages and all abilities to be reminded that exercise holds a lot of promise in helping mankind to stay healthy through sports as a way of life and not a competition to win prizes.

The Public Relation Officer, NOC, Tony Ubani, who said that the Run was an ideal platform to highlight the benefits of physical activity which allows people to learn about Olympic values and to put them into practice in their everyday life, noted that engaging oneself in exercises promotes the healthy fitness of an individual.

He further highlight that Jogging burns calories, tones muscles, shapes the body and helps checkmates stress.

Mr. Ubani however, commended the Bank of Industry, Premier Lotto and Lagos State for donating T-shirts to mark the event.
