It is no longer new to an average Nigerian that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, has continued to attract unalloyed support from many young Nigerians who have lost confidence in both the ruling and the major opposition parties, All Progressives Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

In that regards, many residents of the ancient city of Ibadan have gathered at various locations of the city, in their hundreds and thousands, as at 5:30 this morning, to kick off the “Ibadan One Million March for Peter Obi” which was scheduled to hold today.

The march, set to hold across the major areas within Ibadan metropolis, is to show Ibadan residents’ support for Mr. Obi, a former presidential aspirant of PDP who defected to the LP and the “Obidient” movement.

Recall that, CEOAFRICA had earlier reported that similar march has been going on across the country and has taken place in other Nigerian cities like Port Harcourt, Abuja, Benin, Onitsha, Owerri among others.

This medium recalls that Peter Obi, a former banker, businessman and ex-governor of Anambra state has enjoyed growing popularity among Nigeria’s youth population across different parts of the country, owing to his contribution to education, security and economic recovery in Anambra state during his gubernatorial administration in the state, which many believe he will replicate in the country if elected.

His promise to move Nigeria away from a consumption to a production-based economy, if elected president, has resonated well among millions of Nigerians who hope that the 2023 elections could help reset the country’s struggling economy and address poverty and insecurity bedeviling the country.

CEOAFRICA will keep updating you as events, accompanying the march, unfold.
