The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has decried the current state of Nigeria’s Educational system.

Atiku disclosed this while commenting on the 2022 International Literacy Day on Twitter.

The Tweet said, “Regrettably, our education system is as broken as every other sector of our National life.

“There is a nexus between development and literacy—however, our current literacy level cannot drive the envisaged level of development.

“To this end, I plan a reform and massive investment in education.’’

The Presidential aspirant pledged that under his watch and in collaboration with State Governments, more attention will be placed on early Education that guarantees the ability to read and write.

Meanwhile, the theme for the 2022 International Literacy Day according to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, (UNESCO)  is“Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces”.

UNESCO said the theme is aimed at providing opportunities to rethink the fundamental importance of literacy learning spaces to build resilience and ensure quality, equitable, and inclusive education for all.
