The President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has assured that the plans to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by 2030 is possible.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Kachollum Daju, who made this known in an interview with Newsmen on Sunday in Abuja,
Daju explained that the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) alongside key players in the private sector and development partners are working tirelessly to achieve the goal.
The Permanent Secretary announced that her Ministry has inaugurated a data bank, known as Labour Market Information System (LMIS) and the data bank guides those who have been employed and those wishing to secure employment.
She said; “The private sector is supposed to play a huge role because we cannot all be dependent on the Government.’’
“For Ministry of Labour, we have different agencies and departments that have to do with employment skills.’’
“Alongside the LMIS, we are also going to improve on job matching, known as the National Electronic Labour Exchange (NELEX).”
The Permanent Secretary said that the Ministry has created about 16 job centres across Nigeria and will establish a centre in all 36 states and the FCT.
Daju noted that the plan to increase the number of centres is part of the measures to ensure that all 774 local Government areas are covered.
