The Lagos State Government has suspended the activities of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in the State.
The action followed the bloody fight between members at Iyana Iba and Lagos Island areas.
The Adviser on Transportation to the Governor, Sola Giwa, said the government will not allow the situation to degenerate and announced the appointment of a 35-member caretaker committee to take over the activities of the Union.
The Lagos State Police Command has deployed officers to safeguard flashpoints across the metropolis.
It was reported that some aggrieved members of the Union demanded the removal of RTEAN President, Musa Mohammed.
Meanwhile, Mohammed had suspended the union’s Vice Chairman in Lagos, Oluwaseyi Bamgbose .
The President, in a statement by Abdulrahman Amusan, noted that the unrest in the State was instigated by Bamgbose.
