Inspector General of Police Muhammed Abubarkar has presented a cheque of N5.4million naira to 16 families under the accident Insurance Scheme of the force.

The families comprised 8 women who lost their husband to national service and 8 officers who had accident in the course of the discharge of their duties.

Presenting the cheques, the acting AIG Zone 11, Mohammed Indabawa today said it was part of the way of encouraging those in service that the force will not abandon them in time of their needs.

Indabawa urged men and officers to redouble their efforts to ensure safety of lives and properties saying the IGP welfare package is being improved to cover exigencies.

 The AIG who noted that though a live lost cannot be quantified in monetary terms urged members of the families and beneficiaries of the scheme to utilise the money to take care of the needs of the children left behind.

Speaking to CEOafrica, Ndubisi Livinus who had fractures on his head and arms urged for improvement in the monetary compensation saying though the intention was good, the compensation should be upwardly reviewed.

The cheque was distributed to 6 persons from Ondo state, 4 from Oyo state and 6 persons from Osun State.
