The organised Osun state Local Government election by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) has recorded a massive low turn-out of voters.
CEOAFRICA had reported that OSIEC had fixed Saturday, October 15, 2022, for the local government poll in the State, despite the objection of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had filed a suit to stop the exercise.
However, the Osun State chapter of the All progressive congress (APC) is the only political party that participated in the election.
The ballot paper is marked with no party symbols or identification but a space to thumbprint either ‘YES’ or ‘NO’.
The exercise which commenced around 9am had low turn-out of voters to exercise their right.
It was reported that the State Government had declared restriction of movement from 7:00 am to 3:00pm across the State to enable voters to go for the exercise.
Despite the restriction, businesses were ongoing as usual in some parts of Osogbo, the State capital.
