Just In: Gunmen kill two, abduct doctor, pharmacist, others in Niger

Armed gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday (today), attacked the Abdulsalam Abubakar General hospital, Gulu, Lapai local government area of Niger State.
It was reported that the incident took place around 2 am.
The gunmen in their numbers stormed the hospital shooting sporadically with no intervention from security agencies or local vigilantes in the area.
It was reported that two people were killed and many people were abducted including a doctor and pharmacist.
One of those killed was a retired medical personnel known as Ya-Tachi, who lived directly opposite the hospital in the area.
According to Zakari Nda, a resident in the area who spoke with Newsmen said;
“They arrived in large numbers and were shooting sporadically, which sent fears into the people during the period of their operation.’’
“At the end of the operation, many people were abducted and some wounded.”
Nda appealed the State government and security agencies in the state to put an end to these incessant attacks on communities, as this is the fourth time gunmen have attacked communities in the State.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun hasn’t responded concerning the attack.
