The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested one Nasiru Idris, for being in possession of 101 permanent voters’ cards (PVCs).
This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police, Hussain Gumei, during a press briefing.
Gumei said the suspect was arrested in Sabon Birni, due to credible information received by the command.
He said; “It is envisaged that owners of these cards are not only from Sabon Birni local government but could be from other parts of the state because we could not trace the rightful owners of the PVCs.”
The Commissioner of Police appealed to the general public, especially those whose cards are either missing or misplaced to come to the command’s headquarters and check for identification.
Gumei also stressed that all the unclaimed PVCs will be returned to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after one month by the police.
