The Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, on Friday, flagged off the reconstruction of Nanka-Obiadimora-Isuofia road.
Soludo noted that the road is a major bypass, but the recent flooding has driven people away from the road.
He said; “We have come to give the road a permanent solution because it’s the worst road in this area.’’
“It’s a small road but it’s very strategic. If you are coming from Nnewi to Oko, you won’t need to follow the Ekwulobia roundabout.’’
“We will decongest roads that will be motorable from Awka to Aguluezechukwu.”
The Commissioner for Works, Engr Ifeanyi Okoma, on his part said the Governor is empathetic about the plight of the residents of the State.
Engr. Okoma said the road will have 6 inches stone base and cement stabilization with a life span of 20 years.
The Commissioner said that the road will have good drainage system and bypass Adimora, joining Nnobi road.
Engr. Okoma said the road will be completed before Christmas this year.
The Deputy Majority Leader at the State House of Assembly, Hon Emeka Aforka said that the road is significant for the people of Orumba and Aguata as it will ease movement through Ekwulobia from Awka.
Hon. Aforka said the Governor gave 50% advance mobilisation for the road and urged the contractor to be commitment to the work.
