A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Monday, has adjourned indefinitely the trial of terrorism charges filled against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, by the Federal Government.
The presiding Judge, Justice Binta Nyako, adjourned the trial indefinitely at the instance of Kanu, pending the resolution of the FG’s appeal against the October 13th judgment of the Court of Appeal that discharged him from the terrorism charges.
The Federal Government’s appeal seeking reversal of the Court of Appeal judgment is pending before the Supreme Court.
Two other cases billed for hearing before the court were also put off indefinitely for the same reason.
CEOAFRICA had earlier reported that Kanu had refused to appear in court on Monday, in protest against the refusal of the Federal Government to release him from detention as ordered by the Court of Appeal on October 13th, 2022.
More details later…
