Gunmen have killed nine members of a family in an attack at the Maikatako Community in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.
This was made known by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Alfred Alabo, during an interview with newsmen in Jos, On Wednesday.
Alabo said that the gunmen stormed the community on Tuesday night and started shooting sporadically.
He said; “Our men are currently going after the assailants; we are on top of the situation, but the details of the attack are still sketchy.”
One of the residents of the community, Mr Mahanan Job, who spoke with newsmen said in the search and rescue conducted by community members, 18 dead bodies were recovered.
According to Job, there is severe tension in the community, even with the presence of police officers and soldiers.
