DELTA BECOMING CASSAVA LEADING PRODUCING STATE IN AFRICA

Nigeria's Agriculture Minister,Dr.Akinwumi Adesina has declared that Delta

State as the leading State in cassava production in the country, he said this after the Delta State gave out 6000 hectares for the development of commercial cassava farms and 25 hectares for the establishment of a processing plant for cassava at Abraka in Delta state of Nigeria.

 

      Adding that, Delta State is the only State to have allocated land for the plant and commercial cultivation.

 

     Adding further that 18 large-Scale cassava processing plants each with 7, 200 metric tones processing capacity are to be established in various parts of the country under the programmme aimed at having Nigeria make an in road in the global cassava market.

 

     The minister disclosed that President Goodluck Jonathan has established N10billion cassava bread fund in which to facilitates the country training programme of 5,000 master bakers in order to expand the cassava usages and to produce more cassava flour at cheaper cost.
