The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria has elected a new National Financial Secretary, in her just concluded 95th Annual National Conference, held in Jos.
The newly elected bookkeeper is Pharm. Wetben Luka Mallum; the election was held in the course of the Annual General Meeting of the society on Friday, 4th November, 2022.
Ahead of the election, the President, Pharm. (Prof.) Cyril Odianose Usifoh, had explained that only one office would be vied for by two contestants.
The contestants were Pharm. Luka Wetben, the immediate past secretary of the Plateau state chapter of the PSN and Pharm. Nafisatu Mijinyawa, a former secretary, treasurer and financial secretary of the Bauchi State branch of the society.
Declaring the results of the election, the chairman of the 2022 Electoral Committee, Pharm. Peter Iliya, noted that a total of 862 votes were cast and none was invalid.
In the keenly contested election, he stated that Pharm Nafisatu polled 392 votes while Pharm. Luka polled 470 votes.
Pharm Mijinyawa has since congratulated Pharm Wetben, who takes over from the outgone financial secretary, Pharm. (Dr) Murtala Isa Umar.
