The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed as shocking the death of the party’s Kaduna women leader, Mrs Victoria Chintex, who was gruesomely murdered by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen on Tuesday.
Obi while expressing his condolence asserted that the killing of the woman and many other innocent Nigerians is the reason why he will prioritise war against insecurity as his first task in office if he emerges the president in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
CEAFRICA had reported that the hoodlums also shot Chintex’s husband in the leg while he was instantly rushed to an undisclosed medical facility for treatment.
LP in the southern Kaduna senatorial zone, in a statement by its publicity secretary, Edward Buju, also condemned in strong terms the brutal and cowardly assassination of the Women Leader.
However, Obi took to his verified social media handles on Tuesday evening to mourn the death of the woman leader and to condole with her family, saying, “I am shocked by the mindless killing of Mrs Victoria Chintex, the Labour Party’s women leader in Kaura, Kaduna State, by yet to be identified gunmen.
“Her death is a huge loss to her immediate and extended family, and to our Labour Party. She lives on in our hearts.
“May the soul of the late Mrs. Victoria Chintex rest in perfect peace. My sincere condolence to her family.”
Speaking further, the LP presidential candidate, said, “Her killing, and the loss of many innocent lives across the nation to gunmen and terrorists, are the reason why I must prioritise the war against insecurity as my first task in the office.
“We must not allow the waste of human lives in Nigeria under any guise,” he maintained.
