The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) has called off the strike which they have embarked upon for the past one week.
The Health workers had earlier on 21 of August declared an indefinite strike to agitate against the alleged Federal Government’s failure to resolve some critical issues it has raised against the Federal Ministry of Health.
The industrial action, which grounded government hospitals, was supported by Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria, national Association of Nurses and Midwives, Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals and Research Institutions, Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, Nigerian Union of Pharmacists, Medical Technologies and Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professions.
However, the suspension of the strike as announced by Emeka Wogu, Minister of Labour and Productivity after a closed door meeting on Tuesday, was effected based on an agreement reached between JOSEHU and the federal government.
