PDP HANG UP FIVE MEMBERS FOR HOLDING A PARALLEL STATE MEETING

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has on Thursday suspended five of PDP members accused of conduction a parallel state meeting for the nomination of governorship candidate in Anambra State on Saturday.

Among the members suspended are; Senator Andy Uba, Chris Uba (Andy’s brother), Ejike Oguebego, Chief Benji Udeozor and Mrs. Tonia Nwankwu.

CEOAFRICA news desk gathered that the offence which the suspended PDP members were accused of contravenes the section 58 (1) a, b, c, f, h and j of the PDP constitution (2012 as amended).

according to the letter of the NWC dated August 29, which affected the suspension, the accused members were also said to have failed to respond when invited to meet with the NWC on Wednesday 28 August, 2013 to clarify their misconduct.

Chris Uba, the brother of Andy Uba who reacted on the development, expressed surprise at the sudden surge to suspend just five of them when millions of people were at the meeting.

However, he called for the rule of law and democracy to be respected, stressing that there were no reason for the actions that is being taken against them.
