Kano State Government on Tuesday said it has registered more than 3,000 Internally Displaced Persons since the attack on Mubi town, Adamawa, by insurgents.

The Director-General of the state Hisba Board, Alhaji Abba Sufi, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Kano.

He said the state government directed the board to register and move some of them to Dawakin Kudu, where they were being camped.

“About 300 of the displaced persons are staying at different camps in Dawakin Kudu, while others are with their relations at various homes in the state.”

He said the state government had distributed relief materials donated by individuals, philanthropists and corporate organizations.

“We received materials from Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who donated 500 bags of rice and same quantity of maize, beans and vegetable oil.

“We also receive prepared food from Hajiya Mariya Sunusi Dantata on daily basis,” Sufi said.

He said the board had received donation from Central Bank of Nigeria, in addition to free medical services from Save for Paradise, an NGO.

“They gave us food items, sanitary materials and detergents. We have at least five new born babies in our camp.

“Save for Paradise took care of the rams, clothing and other things required for the naming ceremony,” he said.

“We received donation from wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Amina Namadi Sambo, who brought some bags of rice.”

He called on other displaced persons yet to register to do so.
