The South African High Commission’s ‘One Day at Work’ Initiative aimed at empowering the female folks and creating equal opportunity for the development of the girl-child in Nigeria has secure niche for many female students from the University of Lagos (UNILAG)

Launched in 2008, the programme has seen hundreds of students so far benefitting, boosting their confidence level,  preparing them for the future and exposing them for what to expect in a work environment after leaving school.

Under the annual programme which takes place in August, the students are said to be usually trained and exposed to work ethics and etiquette, negotiation with business partners, how to make success in business, conclusion of deals, business sustainability among others.

Rossab International, an infrastructure developing company and also one of the partner organisations, has applauded the initiative, in its belief that the female gender needed to be given equal opportunity to develop themselves towards the realisation of their goal in life.

The CEO of Rosaab, Dapo Odojukan, who claimed the company has always been involved in developing people, explained that the initiative if taken seriously by the benefitting undergraduates was capable of bridging the gap in the human capacity required to drive the nation’s economy especially in the engineering/infrastructure development sector.
