Super Eagles Midfielder, Sunday Mba
CEOAFRICA sports desk gathered that a member of the Super Eagles squad to the 2013 African Cup of Nations, Sunday Mba, has joined the league of foreign based professionals by signing for CA Bastia in France.
Mba, who was prominent in the squad for scoring the winning goals against Didier Drogba-led Cote D’Ivoire in the quarter final, coupled the only goal which won the trophy for Nigeria against Burkina Faso in the final, signed a one-year-deal with the club.
The 24-year-old, who was entangled in a transfer saga between Enugu Rangers and Warri Wolves, reportedly cost the French side one million euros.
He was part of the African Champions party to the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil, where the country couldn’t go beyond group phase after recording an emphatic 6-1 win over CONEMBOD champions, Tahiti, only to lose the remaining two games to South American Champions, Uruguay 2-1 and World/European Champions Spain 3-0.
Sunday Mba is in the list of players invited to face Flames of Malawi in a 2014 World Cup qualifier holding in Calabar next week Saturday.
