The Chairperson for NUPENG in Oyo State, Chief (Mrs) Olusola Olagunju has thrown her weight behind the candidature of Senator Teslim Folarin, the gubernatorial flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State. In an interview with our correspondent in Lagos during the Holy Matrimony (Nikkah) of Opeyemi Rekiyat and Adedamola (the son of the Manager, Nigerian Breweries, Ibadan plant, Alhaji Goke Adeyemi), she bears her mind with us. Here are the excerpts:

CEOAFRICA: What can you say about Alhaji Goke Adeyemi son?

RESPONSE: It’s a good thing to say it loud and clear that the lady (bride) has found a good husband. I know Mr Goke very well as a nice and friendly gentleman. He is very charitable and of course generous with all things. Likewise, his son (groom), a refined gentleman as I know him, will definitely take after his father in behaviour and character content.

CEOAFRICA: What advice do you have for the couple?

RESPONSE: My advice is very simple and honest. Let there constantly be trust and love. These two attributes are the secret ingredients that keep marriage perpetually sweet. They should strongly resist all forms of interference, even from their parents as this would rule out the third party factor.

CEOAFRICA: Can you tell us about your political sojourn and the aspect of politics you have been involved in?

RESPONSE: The aspect of politics I have been involved in has to do with women. Majority of the appointment and offices I have occupied have been that of women. I have been women leader and women president in many associations and groups in Oyo State. At present, I am the women leader (Iyalode) of auto technicians in Ibadan, Oyo State. I want to give kudos to my president, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan because his tenure has empowers and opened ways for women in politics and political offices. These women are maximally performing in their various offices and ministries.

Presently, in this dispensation, we have 35 percent of political appointments allocated to women. This feat has never been achieved by any president in Nigeria. In this regard, I gratefully want to say a big thank you to Mr. President for this unparallel job done.

CEOAFRICA: What can you say about the gubernatorial candidacy of Senator Teslim Folarin  in Oyo state PDP?

RESPONSE: Senator Teslim is a brother and a committed party faithful. He has been in the system for long and has faithfully paid his due. The choice of his candidacy in PDP is a calculated attempt to bail Oyo state out of it present dungeon. I can assure you that we are all going to work for him to see that come 29th of May,2015, he is sworn in as the executive governor of our great state.

CEOAFRICA: Are you going to work for him?

RESPONSE: Proudly so! As the women leader for project 2015, we are carrying the banner of PDP with the mandate to deliver whoever is the flag bearer at any level in the state. Sen. Teslim Folarin is my brother and of course, a grassroot politician. I can assure you that he will emerge as the next governor of the Oyo State. As the women leader for NUPENG and so many other women organisation, I have a lot of women behind me and I will mobilise all the women come 2015 for PDP.

CEOAFRICA: What should the people expect from the PDP come 2015 and what challenge do you see from other political parties?

RESPONSE: By the special grace of God and the effort of all PDP members, I see Jonathan having a landslide victory over all contestants. General Buhari is no threat to Jonathan, Buhari is not a factor to bother about. PDP will sweep Oyo State and many other states in Nigeria.

CEOAFRICA: Can you tell us the capacities you are currently holding?

RESPONSE: I am into Oil and Gas; I am the women leader for NUPENG in Oyo State; I am the CEO of Shola Olagunju Foundation (a humanitarian organisation); I am the women leader for PROJECT 2015; I am the president and financier of Ijewuru Widow Foundation with over 5 million widows; I am the National Treasurer of Dynamic Women International; I am a member of Yoruba Unity Forum and many other associations and groups.
