The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has berated the former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Adewale Omirin, for holding a parallel sitting different from the one recognised by the entire citizens of the state.

In a statement by the PDP state Chairman, Chief Idowu Faleye, in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, the party said the claim made by Omirin and other All Progressive Congress (APC) lawmakers that they held a parallel sitting in an undisclosed location on Friday had confirmed that they had a sinister motive against the State Governor, Ayodele Fayose

The PDP boss took a swipe at the embattled speaker for operating in secrecy, urging him to be mature enough to  tell the whole world the exact location and time of the sitting either within the state or outside.

According to him, “There was nowhere in the world where such sitting took place and that the APC legislators have resulted to machinery of lies and brigade of blackmail  because they discovered that the Ekiti people have resolved that they are not fit be called men and women of honour again going by their unpatriotic attitude.”

Faleye also accused Omirin and other APC lawmakers of allegedly holding the state to ransom by allegedly making frivolous demands from the governor to carry out their legislative duties.

“Omirin must explain  the purpose of the money he confessed to have collected from the governor of the state  and justify the sensibility in collecting  such huge amount of money in this situation of financial mess which his party had dragged the state into in its vengeful missions.

“He must tell the whole world the reason he decided to be collecting N200, 000 for fuel whenever he visited the governor in his office, because it will be recalled that the speaker had confessed in one of his interview with the media that he and his colleagues did collect N2,000 each  time they visited the governor in his office after the swearing-in,” he said. He condemned the decision by Omirin and his
APC colleagues to be running from Lagos to Osogbo without coming to State house of Assembly to perform the functions they were elected to do.

Faleye added that the embattled speaker and his co -travellers in this barbaric and unpatriotic course should bury their heads in shame for denying their state good and robust legislation that could fast track development.
