Members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) have declared an indefinite strike to commence January 2, 2015.

The union accused the 36 state governors of deliberately resisting the implementation of a Federal High Court judgement to put judiciary funds under the first line charge and by such act, the governors are frustrating the independence of the judiciary.

JUSUN, in a statement signed by its National President, Comrade Marwan Mustapha Adamu, and National Assistant Secretary, Comrade Placidus Nnamani, said none of the judgment debtors of parties served with the order of the court had appealed against it till date.

The union recalled that it embarked on strikes at separate times during the year, but had called them off following mediations and interventions from relevant stakeholders including the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Minister of Labour, Principal Officers in the National Assembly, and others.

The workers stated that they are embarking they would continue with the strike until the memorandum of understanding dated November 27 is total complied with.

It added that by refusing to implement, the judgement debtors (Governors) have conspired not to allow a constitutionally guaranteed arm of the government to exercise its due rights.
