How Faculty of Veterinary Medicine UI says thank you for 2023 with "CALM DOWN 2.0’’

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine,University of Ibadan in Nigeria held the second edition of its annual event, CALM DOWN 2.0, tagged "Thank You All for 2023," on 19th of December 2023, at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine premises.

Professor Ola-davies Olufunke, the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine expressed gratitude to the faculty's staff, students, and stakeholders for their contributions to the numerous achievements of the faculty throughout the year 2023.

The first Professor of Veterinary Biochemistry in Africa with specialization in Molecular Biochemistry extended a special warm welcome to all present and praised the Vice-Chancellor for his relentless efforts to improve the faculty's infrastructure.

She further expressed her gratitude to the faculty's living ancestors, represented by Dr. Gani Adeniran, the sabbatical staff, and past Deans, for their support.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of University Professor Olukayode Adebowale FRSC, in his address warmly welcomed everyone and emphasized the importance of holding onto hope during challenging times. He highlighted the four ingredients of hope - patience, courage, perseverance, and persistence - and encouraged attendees to embrace them. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor also commended the thoughtful initiative of the Faculty's Dean and expressed his desire to replicate it in his own Faculty.

The event was a fun-filled affair that featured various activities and attracted a large number of attendees.

In an Exclusive Interview with CEOAFRICA the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale expressed his excitement about the program's theme and hoped that next year's edition would be even more captivating. He encouraged the faculty to invite more people to join in the festivities.

Professor Oyeronke Odunola, the Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Science, shared her thoughts on the event, stating that it was a way of counting their blessings and expressing gratitude to God. She praised the efforts of the Faculty's Dean and noted that other Faculties were looking to emulate her example of appreciating their team.

Professor M Oyeyemi, the former Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine expressed his appreciation to the Dean for involving the final year students in this year's edition. He emphasized the importance of unity within the faculty and urged the graduating students to put the knowledge they have acquired to good use.

Dr. Sunday Charles Olaogun, the Sub-dean of the Faculty Clinic, stressed the importance of relaxation for improving one's health. He highlighted the event as an opportunity for Faculty members to unwind and rejuvenate.

Olayinka Bamidele Ojo, one of the members of staff who was awarded for dedication to duty, expressed his shock and happiness at being recognized. He advised students to be honest and dedicated in all their endeavors.

Students and other staffs of the faculty who had a moment with CEOAFRICA expressed their gratitude to the Dean and attested to it that this year's edition of CALM DOWN 2.0 was more elaborate than the maiden edition.

The CALM DOWN 2.0 was graced by esteemed guests including the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Olukayode Adebowale FRSC, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Admin, Professor Peter Olamakinde Olapegba, Deans of Faculties, distinguished guests including CEOAFRICA Team, Dr. Goke Ayoola, Dr. Abi Olamitoye, Dr. Olokede, Farm Alert, and Croydon Innovations, staffs, and final year students of the faculty. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as participants engaged in a range of recreational activities such as table tennis, PS5 video games, puzzle solving, Ayo opon, and more. DJ Weezy provided thrilling music to suit the tastes of both young and old.

The event came to an end with dances, merriment, and group photographs, leaving everyone satisfied with the abundance of food and the memories to take home.

The second edition of "Calm Down 2.0" was a resounding success, showcasing the unity, appreciation, and vibrant spirit within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Ibadan.
