The Immediate past National Secretary of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), Pharmacist Ezeh Ambrose Sunday Igwekamma MAW, delivered an enlightening lecture at the ACPN Ogun State branch yesterday, Wednesday, January 31st, 2024.
The lecture, which took place at the ACPN Pharmacy House in Leme Abeokuta, was attended by various pharmacists members in the region.
The focus of the lecture was on "The Vital Role of Documentation in Community Pharmacy Practice in Nigeria." Pharmacist Ambrose Sunday Igwekamma Ezeh MAW emphasized the significance of proper documentation in various aspects of Community Pharmacy Practice.
He highlighted its importance in ensuring patient safety, effective communication, evidence-based decision-making, quality assurance, and accountability.
During his presentation, Pharmacist Ezeh Ambrose Sunday Igwekamma MAW also discussed the legal and ethical aspects of documentation. He shed light on the challenges faced in maintaining accurate records and provided insights on how to overcome them. Some of the solutions mentioned included Electronic Health Records (EHR) and standardized documentation.In his closing remarks, Pharmacist Ambrose Sunday Ezeh MAW emphasized that proper documentation is an indispensable aspect of Community Pharmacy Practice in Nigeria. He emphasized that it enhances patient safety, supports effective communication, provides evidence for decision-making, and ensures quality and accountability.
Ezeh further urged all pharmacists to prioritize documentation in their practices and continuously strive for excellence in record-keeping while adhering to legal and ethical standards.
Pharmacist Ambrose, who recently passed on the baton to the current National Secretary, Pharmacist Ashore Omokhafe, has a wealth of experience in the Pharmacy sector. He is the Managing Director of Rosemus Pharmacy Limited, a chain pharmacy outlet serving Apapa and its environs.His journey in ACPN and Pharmacy association services began at the grassroots level of the Ajeromi/Ifelodun zone, where he served as the financial secretary.
With dedication and passion, he later moved on to the state level and became a member of various committees, including the ACPN Continuing Education Committee Pharmacist
Pharm Ezeh served in Lagos State branch as publicity Secretary from 2012 to 2015, Financial Secetary 2015 to 2018.
Ambrose has also contributed to ACPN National Conferences as a member of the Conference Planning Committee (CPC). In 2018, he emerged as the National Treasurer at the Edo Conference. In 2020, at the Abuja 2020 National Conference, he further cemented his services delivery to the association by becoming the National Secretary.little wonder collegues in the Pharmacy Ecosytem call him a Nationalist, Trusted Loyalist, Unifer and Consolidator.
The lecture provided valuable insights and guidance for Community Pharmacists in Ogun State, equipping them with the necessary knowledge to improve their documentation practices.
