The Yobe State, Governor, His Excellency, Mai Mala Buni has assured the Nigerian Army of his administration’s continued support. This assurance was given during a courtesy visit by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, to the Government House in Damaturu.
Governor Buni commended the military for their tireless efforts in securing the state, noting that all 17 local government areas are now accessible, with citizens freely pursuing their legitimate businesses. He attributed the success of his administration’s policies and programs to the improved security situation, which has enabled the government to execute its plans without hindrance.
However, the governor emphasized the need for increased patrols along the state’s borders to prevent the infiltration of insurgents targeting vulnerable and isolated areas.
Earlier, the COAS reiterated the army’s commitment to ending insurgency and banditry in Nigeria. He expressed his personal ambition to see an end to these menaces as soon as possible and called for support from political leaders and Nigerians to achieve this goal. The COAS also commended Yobe State for its support to the army and solicited further assistance to facilitate the end of insurgency.
