Today is day 91 in our countdown to "IFEADIGO 2025", the 44th Annual International Scientific Conference of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), scheduled for July 22 to 27, 2025, at the International Conference Center in Awka, Anambra State.
As we look forward to this landmark event, it’s essential to highlight Nnewi, the industrial city of Anambra State and a testament to indigenous ingenuity. Nnewi is home to several prominent manufacturing companies and is renowned for being the site of Nigeria’s first car manufacturing plant. It leads the country in auto parts production, accounting for over 70% of the industry, and it’s also where the first-ever Nigerian-made motorcycle was produced.
Nnewi’s remarkable industrial landscape includes a wealth of manufacturing companies established by local entrepreneurs. Renowned firms such as Ibeto Group of Companies, Cutix, ADswitch, Omata Holdings Ltd, and Innoson Group of Companies, among others, have collectively transformed Nnewi into an industrial powerhouse, often referred to as the "Japan of Africa." Most, if not all, of the industrial estates and factories here were developed through the efforts of the people of Nnewi, showcasing a spirit of entrepreneurship and dedication to local progress.
As we approach "IFEADIGO 2025", themed "Technology Integration and Personalized Care: The Future of Community Pharmacy Practice," it’s clear that innovation isn't limited to the pharmacy sector; it thrives in Nnewi's vibrant industrial landscape as well. The collaborative spirit and commitment to excellence exhibited by Nnewi’s industrialists are values that resonate throughout the conference.
Join us in celebrating both Nnewi's industrial achievements and the broader mission of "IFEADIGO 2025". As the countdown continues, let’s look forward to an enriching gathering that promises to inspire and empower the community pharmacy profession!
