We are 88 days down to "IFEADIGO 2025", and we take a moment to honor the exceptional legacy of Chike Obi (April 17, 1921 – March 13, 2008). A prominent Nigerian mathematician, politician, and professor, Obi made history as the first Nigerian to earn a doctorate in mathematics—a groundbreaking achievement that has inspired generations.

His pioneering research focused on the existence of periodic solutions to non-linear ordinary differential equations. By employing innovative perturbation techniques, Obi not only advanced theoretical mathematics but also stimulated global scholarly interest in the subject. His published works remain cornerstones in mathematical literature and are widely regarded as classics.

Chike Obi received his early education in various locations across Nigeria before pursuing mathematics as an external student at the University of London. His academic journey then took him to Pembroke College, Cambridge, where he garnered a scholarship for research. He further distinguished himself by completing his doctoral studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1950, marking a significant milestone as the first Nigerian to achieve a PhD in mathematics.

In addition to his contributions to academia, Obi was an influential figure in Nigerian politics, authoring numerous books and journal articles that bridged the realms of mathematics and political discourse in Nigeria.

As we look forward to the 44th Annual International Scientific Conference of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) tagged "IFEADIGO 2025", scheduled for July 22 to 27, 2025, at the International Conference Center in Awka, with the theme "Technology Integration and Personalized Care: The Future of Community Pharmacy Practice," let us celebrate the remarkable contributions of visionaries like Chike Obi, who have shaped the landscape of education and governance in Nigeria.
