The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, has recovered three dead bodies in a two-storey building under construction that collapsed at Ikorodu area of the state on Tuesday.
According to emergency officials, the deceased were part of a team of construction workers reportedly working on the ground floor when the structure collapsed on Tuesday afternoon. They were identified as two adult males and a teenage girl.
LASEMA stated that the first body was recovered shortly after the incident, while the remaining two victims were pulled from the debris during an extended search that continued into the early hours of Wednesday.
Witnesses reported that the building collapsed around 2:00 p.m. with a thunderous sound, drawing the attention of residents and passersby to the scene.
Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the development, noting that the bodies have been handed over to officers from the Igbogbo Police Division to support ongoing investigations into the cause of the structural failure.
