Hundreds of commuters plying the ever busy Sango-Eleyele Road in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, are currently stranded.
CEOAFRICA gathered that the passengers are stranded as a result of protest embarked upon by students of the Polytechnic Ibadan.
The students embarked upon the protest as a result of the recent announcement made by Governor Seyi Makinde of the state to rename the institution.
CEOAFRICA had earlier reported few days ago that Makinde announced his plans to rename The Polytechnic Ibadan to Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan.
Olunloyo was the first Ibadan person to serve as the governor of old Oyo State.
He served between October and December 1983.
Following the change of name, the students of the institution are currently protesting the renaming of the institution.
The students in the early hours of Tuesday blocked the entrance gates of the institution.
They also blocked the ever busy Sango -Eleyele Road.
This made many commuters, residents and travellers plying the road to be stranded.
It was gathered that some staff of the institution are also stranded as the majority of them were unable to gain access to the institution.
