The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, is poised to launch a new Pharmacare Centre in Umuawulu town, Awka South Local Government Area, on the morning of Tuesday, July 22, 2025. This initiative, led by the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), reflects the commitment to enhancing access to pharmaceutical services, particularly in underserved areas across Nigeria, through the Community Pharmacy Expansion Scheme.

The commissioning of the new Pharmacare Centre will take place shortly before the ACPN's 44th Annual International Scientific Conference, themed "Technology Personalized Care: The Future of Community Pharmacy Practice," which is set to occur from July 22 to 27, at the International Convention Center in Awka. The establishment of a Pharmacare Centre in every state hosting the ACPN conference reaffirms the association's dedication to enhancing healthcare delivery and highlights the vital role of local community pharmacies in achieving Universal Health Coverage in Nigeria.

Pharm. Ambrose Ezeh, the National Chairman of ACPN, emphasized the significance of the new centre in transforming healthcare services across the nation. “This Pharmacare Centre is yet another testament to the noble efforts of our Association in realizing Universal Health Coverage in Nigeria. Together, we will transform healthcare services and ensure that all Nigerians have access to vital pharmaceutical care,” Ezeh stated.

The newly established Pharmacare Centre is expected to provide essential pharmaceutical services, including medication management, health screenings, and patient education, addressing the healthcare needs of the local population. This initiative not only enhances the role of community pharmacists within the healthcare system but also supports broader goals of improving health outcomes and accessibility in Nigeria.
