ACPN National Chairman, Pharm Ezeh mourns the Passing of Sir Atueyi, a true pioneer in pharmacy

Pharm Ambrose Igwekamma Ezeh, the National Chairman of the Association of Community Pharmacists in Nigeria (ACPN), has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Sir Ifeanyi Atueyi, a venerated figure in the pharmacy profession and the founder of Pharmanews, who passed away at the age of 85. Reflecting on Sir Atueyi's enduring legacy, Ezeh described him as a beacon of inspiration whose contributions transformed the landscape of pharmacy in Nigeria.

“Sir Ifeanyi Atueyi was not just a pharmacist; he was truly a visionary whose work impacted countless lives,” Ezeh stated. “His dedication to advancing pharmacy practice, education, and healthcare journalism will remain unmatched. He illuminated the path for many of us and opened doors that have led to significant advancements in our profession.”

Ezeh highlighted Sir Atueyi’s instrumental role in bridging gaps within the pharmaceutical community, particularly through his publication, Pharmanews, which has served as a vital resource for pharmacists and healthcare professionals since its inception in 1979. “His commitment to imparting knowledge was unparalleled; he nurtured not just a journal, but a community of informed and empowered pharmacists,” he remarked.

As the pharmacy community grapples with this devastating loss, Ezeh acknowledged Sir Atueyi's gentleness and his ability to foster collaboration among healthcare professionals. “He was a unifying force, always advocating for peace and cooperation within the professional community. We have lost a gentle giant whose vision and character will be greatly missed,” Ezeh added.

Ezeh called for unity in honoring the legacy of Sir Atueyi. “Let us carry forth his spirit of service, integrity, and dedication to excellence. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may we all strive to continue his work in advancing the pharmacy profession in Nigeria.”

On behalf of the national leadership of the ACPN and the entire membership, Pharm. Ezeh extended deepest condolences to Sir Atueyi's family, associates, friends, and the pharmaceutical community at large. "May God grant us all the fortitude to bear this colossal loss," he concluded.
