The Inspector-General of the Nigerian Police, Mohammed Abubakar,  has directed all  Police Commissioners in the South-South region of the country to team up with the Cross River State Command in providing maximum security before, during and after the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying game between Super Eagles of Nigeria and Flames of Malawi at the U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar.

The game scheduled for Saturday,  September 7, is expected to kick-off by 4.pm Nigerian Time.

The above directive was issued as a respond to initial allegation by the Malawian Football Association about the safety of Calabar, as they wrote to FIFA seeking for a change of the Venue to Abuja.

Also, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) assured that the match would be played in a serene and secured environment, debunking the initial allegation raised by their counterparts from Malawi.

Meanwhile, the Malawian players and officials arrived at the venue of the game yesterday from Accra where they have been camping ahead of tomorrow’s crucial encounter.

Nigeria currently leads with 9 points, two above Malawi. Super Eagles only need to avoid defeat in the encounter to qualify for the last round of play-off while Malawi must win to upstage the African Champions.
