Leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State have pleaded with the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, to crack down on the illegal moves to overturn the outcome of the party’s governorship primary won by Dr Wole Oluyede.

The leaders, led by Hon. Deji Ogunsakin, Hon. Segun Adeola, Makanjuola Ogundipe and Kola Oluwawole, appealed to the governor and the PDP leaders at the national level to stop the planned moves by enemies of the party to overturn the choice of the people.

At the press conference held in Ado-Ekiti at the party secretariat in the Ajilosun area, the leaders said Dr Wole Oluyede is the choice of the people, saying, “We have decided to win the 2026 June 20 governorship election in Ekiti.”

According to them, those planning and making the move to overturn the primary election, which was a free, fair and credible election, are enemies of the people.

“Enough is enough. We do not want anybody to sell us cheaply to the APC. APC is aware that we have chosen a credible candidate that can win the 2026 election for us; that is Dr Wole Oluyede, who won the PDP primary.

“They are trying to overturn the results in favour of somebody that was not accepted at the polls.

“The people have voted; they voted for their conscience. They voted for the man they believed in who can give the PDP victory at the polls.

“The election was conducted, and the results were announced by Sen. Ibrahim Dankwabo, former governor and former accountant general of the federation (AGF), under a peaceful and credible atmosphere.”

However, the candidate of the PDP, Dr Wole Oluyede, has paid a courtesy call on one of the contestants at the primary election, Funmilayo Ogun.

Oluyede labeled her as a good supporting sister and a formidable politician who loves the party.

In her reaction, Ogun disclosed that, her actions were to promote peace so that the PDP can remain strong and win the governorship election in Ekiti by 2026.
