Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has reacted to the case of detained soldiers accused of plotting a coup against President Bola Tinubu

Speaking during a press conference called by wives of the detained soldiers on Friday, Sowore said some military officials are only trying to buy the loyalty of the President.

The wives of the detained soldiers had appealed to the government to either charge their husbands to court or release them.

Speaking after the news conference, Sowore said, “What we have gathered from the families of the 120 detained military officers is that there’s no evidence of any coup.

“It’s just some high-level officials who are trying to buy the loyalty of President Tinubu and create a fear factor. That’s how they control people in power.

“We are here to ensure that justice is done no matter what it takes. I have experienced many instances where people are accused of plotting a coup that they never did.”
