The University of Jos (UNIJOS) has postponed all examinations scheduled for Monday, March 30, and Tuesday, March 31, 2026, following a deadly attack in the Anguwan Rukuba community of Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Emmanuel Madugu, Deputy Registrar, Information and Public Relations, said the decision was made to safeguard students and staff amid rising tensions in the area, which is home to a significant number of university members.

“The Vice-Chancellor has directed that all examinations scheduled for Monday and Tuesday be postponed and rescheduled in view of the fatal attacks by unknown gunmen on residents of Anguwan Rukuba, and the tension it has generated,” the statement read.

The university urged students and staff to remain indoors, exercise caution in their movements, and report any security breaches to the University Security Division. “Members are strongly advised to avoid coming out very early in the morning,” Madugu added.

UNIJOS management also noted that it is closely collaborating with relevant security agencies while monitoring developments in the community and assured that further updates will be communicated as necessary.
