The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally recognised a faction of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) believed to be aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The development was confirmed on Monday through an update on INEC’s official website, where the electoral body published a revised list of the PDP’s national leadership.
According to the update, Abdulrahman Mohammed has been listed as National Chairman, while Samuel Anyanwu is recognised as National Secretary, alongside other members of the party’s NWC.
Both Mohammed and Anyanwu emerged during the PDP National Convention held on Sunday at the velodrome of the National Stadium in Abuja. The convention saw the dissolution of the party’s National Caretaker Committee, with new NWC members elected by consensus.
